NTU Community Herb Garden Since 2009
The NTU Community Herb Garden, located at Nanyang Technological University, is a two-acre plot that serves as a sanctuary for over 200 species of tropical plants and herbs known for their natural healing properties.
Key Highlights of the Garden:
Founding and Mission: The garden was established in 2009 by Mr. Ng Kim Chuan (commonly known as "Uncle Ng"), a former NTU technician. After losing his father to lymphoma, Uncle Ng began researching Chinese herbs and transformed the garden into a resource for people seeking medicinal remedies.
Support for Patients: The garden has consistently provided alternative treatment options for over 500 regular patients suffering from various illnesses, including cancer and Parkinson’s disease.
Significant Herbs: The most highly demanded herb is Sabah Snake Grass (Saba's Negras), which is sought by cancer patients for its potential to reduce cancer markers.
Public Outreach: To raise awareness about medicinal herbs, the garden organizes outreach programs such as garden trails and informational talks, attracting diverse groups including medical practitioners and cancer support groups.
Accessibility: All herbal plants are provided free of charge to patients, and the garden’s operations are sustained through public donations
